Fulbright Bulgarian Leaders Grant for MA and PhD Students
Fulbright Bulgaria is offering grants to top US universities to support Bulgarian MA and PhD students who will return to Bulgaria to build the country’s capacity in the academic, public and private sectors. Bulgarian students who apply independently and gain acceptance to US universities ranked in the top 15 graduate programs for their academic field by US News and World Report will be eligible for Fulbright Bulgarian Leaders Grants.
Grants offer up to $100,000 in funding for tuition, fees, living expenses, travel and health insurance, and can be spread across multiple academic years, depending on the length of the program. Grants are valid for all disciplines except clinical medicine and dentistry. Selected candidates will be required to sign an agreement to return to Bulgaria for three years after the completion of their degrees.
Up to seven grants will be awarded yearly in open competition supervised by binational selection committees.

Visiting Scholar Grants
For scholars and university lecturers. Grants last 3 to 5 months and are awarded in all fields of study except clinical medicine and dentistry.
The scholarship includes round trip, monthly maintenance, settling-in allowance, health insurance. Applicants are required to provide an invitation letter from a U.S. academic institution.

Grants for PhD Students
Fulbright Bulgaria gives the opportunity to young researchers in advanced stages of their PhD studies to work in elite universities and institutes in the USA.
Candidates from all areas of studies are eligible except clinical medicine and dentistry. The program covers 6 months of funding. 2-3 grants per year.

Grants for NGO Members
For Bulgarian representatives of non-governmental organizations for research and exchange of best practices at NGOs and counterpart organizations in the United States. These scholarships are awarded in open competition supervised by binational selection committees. 2-3 grants are awarded each year, depending on budget. Grants last 3 to 5 months.
